We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. For by your holy cross you have redeemed the world. 

Taking away someone's clothes is a dehumanizing act. When you do that, you're asserting dominance and power over them, and putting them in an inherently vulnerable position. The naked corpses of Holocaust victims come to mind or the taunts of a locker room bully. 

When Christ was stripped, His wounds were revealed. His dignity as a human being was obscured. The reason the soldiers stripped Him was to make Him easier to mock, torture and kill, to use or abuse as they pleased.
