Lessons from a feverish toddler at 3am.

- Infant Ibuprofen is worth every extra penny you pay for it if your baby doesn't like the taste of the stuff. The mere children's version ends up everywhere EXCEPT inside them, the infant stuff will actually go down their throat and work.

- Shower temperature MATTERS. To the point of tears. Don't make it too cold (and pray the hot water still somehow helps them cool down a bit). Bubble baths may be better (though less doable this time of morning).

- It doesn't matter what type of sick they are. Fever will eventually equal barf. Only a little if you're lucky, but you may not be lucky. Accept this as a law of nature.

-Flavoring the cold water you want to get down them can help a little.

- your baby being able to talk will be a double edged sword.

-Sleep deprivation is going to be your new normal for the next few days, especially if you have other kids. Not because of continued sickness necessarily, but because you won't have time for naps to make up the difference.

-Last but not least: hang in there.  This too shall pass.
