Hopefully I'll get a more fleshed out post up soon. There's been a lot of smaller projects I've been working on lately, and while that means more to write about, it also means I've been busier.
In the meantime, here's some reclaimed Holy card art I've been working on.
Our Lady of La Leche. I'm a little proud of this one; the pedestal under the top square bit is painted from scratch. |
This one was pieced together from a funeral card (I think from my great, great grandmother's funeral) from 1970 something. I found a whole stack of them lying around. |
Our parish is bringing back its parish festival after a two year COVID induced hiatus. The women's club (Catholic Daughters of America) is running a booth selling crafts, and I'm planning on donating a stack of these to the effort.
They're a lot of fun to do, but I haven't been making any for awhile because I don't have space to display anything more, and because it's much easier to store a stack of holy cards than a stack of mini canvases. But if they'll actually get homes and use, that gives me an excuse to make them again.
Works in progress. Yes, this is my freezer. I use whatever workspace I can find around here. (#smallhouselife) |
