We adore you O Christ, and we praise you. Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the world.
It's a special kind of pain to know that what you're going through is causing suffering to someone that you love.
She saw her child beaten, abused, abandoned by most of their friends, heading to His death. All she could do to help Him was to be present for it.
He saw her witnessing it. Seeing the look on her face when she saw Him, the grief and pain, had to have been difficult. There wasn't anything He could do to lift that burden from her, not if He was going to finish His mission.
Both of their hearts must have broken.
