Every year, the public high school where Chris works has "theme" days leading up to the big football game. Teachers and students are invited to dress up in costumes according to the theme. Our family has chosen to go all out, and we enjoy the challenge of making something memorable from what we can scrounge around the house or from the thrift store.
Here are this year's fashion statements.
Only four this year; Homecoming week started on the Tuesday after Labor Day.
Day 1: Disney Day.
Naturally, Chris chose to go as Cinderella.
We found the dress for $5 at the thrift store, spent more than we should have for a costume tiara, and assembled the rest from stuff around the house.
I had to improvise a lace-up corset thing to make it actually sort of fit...
Day Two: Safari
This is our attempt at a Steve Irwin costume.
The shirt and hat were the only purchases needed.
Day Three: Parents
This one was supposed to be students dressing up as their parents, but Chris took it a slightly different direction. I actually didn't have much to do with this one, it was all him.
Day Four: Green Out
Everyone is supposed to dress in school colors. Chris always goes as Green Darth Vader.

I love his Cinderella get-up. :)
ReplyDeleteThat was definitely my favorite too. :)
DeleteDon't worry - with little girls, you'll get your money's worth out of that tiara eventually!
ReplyDeleteIt's so great that your husband get into the spirit of things. I hope his students appreciate him.
I think they do. We run into his students and former students fairly often, and they're generally happy to see him.
