We adore you, O Christ, and we praise you. For by your holy cross, you have redeemed the world.
After the horror and the emotional shock of losing someone you love, what comes next?
How did Jesus' family and friends spend that day or so He was in the tomb? What do you do when everything is already lost?
The Sabbath was supposed to be a strict day of rest. I imagine it was frustrating not being able to go back to the tomb and finish burying Him properly. I imagine it was an insult that there were guards there not letting them near without questioning. I imagine there was a lot of guilt and anguish over how Thursday night had gone, in addition to the grief.
I think that particular Saturday was a very lonely one.
